Mandola for sale
Flattop Mandola #297 $1900 - $3700 (depends on case)
This mandola is
made from Red Spruce (Adirondack Spruce) and Jarrah.
Jarrah works exceptionally well in mandolins and mandolas.
This instrument is easily the best sounding flattop mandola
I have made to date, and one of the best overall..
This mandolin belongs to my third generation of flattop mandolin family instruments. The second generation incorporates a construction technique I discovered a while ago that incorporates some technology used in flattop guitars. It makes the flattop instruments sound much cleaner. The third genertion incorporates all the innovations in the second generation, plus a new way of bracing the top that makes it lighter and stiffer. The lighter and stiffer top gives more volume and an improved tone. A true high end refined tone usually only associated with arch top instruments, not flattops. This mandola has a gorgeous sound equal to or better than the best of my arch top mandolas. Quite remarkable.
Woods are - Red Spruce top, Jarrah back and
sides, NSW Rosewood neck, Indian Rosewood bindings, Macassar Ebony
fingerboard (12in radius, 32mm wide at the nut), 16
inch scale length, Schaller GrandTune tuners
with Ebony knobs and Ebony adjustable Brekke flat top
custom made mandola bridge. Varnish finish.
Price is $1900 with no case, $2200 with a Romanian case (too big), or $3700 with a custom made case from Cedar Creek (is custom made to fit this mandola so is a high quality case with a perfect fit).
For my American customers, note that this mandola does not have any shell inlay. The fingerboard marker dots are opal, and the headstock logo is European Maple wood. There is no need for a USA import permit and wildlife paperwork.
