Classical Flattop Mandolin #217 $1850 (includes case)
About a year ago I made a Red Spruce/Myrtle classical flattop mandolin, and it turned into one of my favourite playing mandolins. It was sold to a very happy new owner, so I made another one identical, but using the best quality Red Spruce I have. The result was better than expected, I think this mandolin is a superior instrument, and it sounds great when brand new, and looks good too. The back is a nice piece of figured Myrtle with good colour. This flattop mandolin makes we wonder if I should just make classical flattops and drop the flattop model. It sounds better than most archtop mandolins, just a bit different. Great mandolin.
Woods are -master grade Red Spruce (Adirondack) top, Tasmanian Myrtle back, sides and neck, Indian Rosewood bindings, Ebony fingerboard (12in radius, 30mm wide at the nut), nickel Rubner tuners with Ebony knobs and ebony adjustable Brekke flattop bridge. Price includes a case.
