Mandolin for sale
Pancake mandolin #242 $1500 (includes case)
This mandolin is based on the Gibson Army Navy mandolins that were made by Gibson from 1918 to 1922, but it has natural wood colours on the top rather than brown. It does have a few modern improvements such as carbon fibre in the neck and an adjustable Brekke bridge as well as a bit more bracing and the top and back are bound. This is the first Maple pancake mandolin I have made and I think with Thomastic strings is the best sounding so far, way way better than the original I restored. This is one of my second generation of flattop mandolins.
Woods are European Spruce top, European
back and sides, Brazilian Mahogany neck, Ebony bindings and
fingerboard. Vintage copper golden age tuners and cloud tailpiece. Comes with a case.
For my American customers, this mandolin does not have any shell inlay. The fingerboard dots are white opal, and the headstock inlay is European Maple. Thus no extra paperwork nor import permits are required to import it into the USA.
Note - These mandolins are build light so strictly light strings only. This one comes supplied with Thomastic mittel strings.
