Mandolin for sale
Classical Flattop Mandolin #314 $2950 (includes case) **SOLD**
This mandolin is a 4th generation flattop mandolin. It has a very lightweight top, Red Spruce fan braced, but the braces are balsa wood topped with carbon fiber tow, and the top is thinned down so the modes of vbration are within the normal range. The thinner top is about 30% lighter and gives more volume and improved tone. It has a figured Jarah back and sides and sounds very clean and even.. It incorporates all the innovations of the 2nd and 3rd generation as well as this new development. It has the new headstock design and the new engraved black tailpiece which damps the strings behind the bridge and is much easier to change strings than the scallop tailpiece. I love the sound of this manolin. I think I have really nailed the sound this time. It has similar characteristics as the Ebony mandolin I love and have been playing for the last 3 years, aven though it is still brand new. Very clean and even with great clarity in the mids and treble, and does not complain if played hard so can go vey loud.
Woods are - Red Spruce top, figured Jarrah
back and sides, Jarrah neck, Indian Rosewood bindings,
Macassar Ebony fingerboard (12in radius, 30mm wide at the
nut), 13 & 3/4 inch scale length, Schaller GrandTune black
chrome tuners with Ebony knobs and Ebony adjustable Brekke
flat top bridge. It has my new tailpiece with black cover. Varnish finish. Price includes a case.
Note: This mandolin cannot have an internal pickup
installed because of the way it is braced.
For my American customers, note that this mandolin does not
have any shell inlay. The fingerboard marker dots are
opal, and the headstock inlay
is European Maple, Blackwood wood. There is no need for a USA
import permit and wildlife paperwork nor any Lacey act paperwork.
