Mandolins

Every luthier stands on the shoulders of others that have gone before them. In my case, I stand on the shoulders of Gibson, Lyon and Healy, Carleen Hutchins, and the great Australian luthier Stephen Gilchrist among others.  The Standard and Goldfinch models are modelled on the vintage Gibson A models.  They have the same "tubby"sound of the Gibsons, but are more refined and cleaner sounding.  The Classical and Classical Junior are a modernised version of the vintage Lyon and Healy mandolins.  The flattop, classical flattop, and the Custom model are my own designs.  The A5 is a modern A5 design influenced by the Gibson Griffith Loar and Gilchrist Model 3.

Standard

What Gibson would have made if they had continued to develop and improve their A model oval soundhole mandolins.  Have the vintage Gibson sound, but more refined and cleaner sounding

Goldfinch Model

Goldfinch

A mandolin based on the vintage Gibson oval hole mandolins, but made from Australian native woods.  Rich, sweet, clear sound.

A5

My version of an F soundhole mandolin.  An excellent general purpose mandolin.

Custom

My version of what a modern oval hole mandolin should be.  Open and even sounding, powerful, very responsive and with great clarity.  Huge ring and sustain.

Classical

A close reproduction of a vintage Lyon and Healy mandolin with a few modern touches.  Sweet and refined sound.

Classical Flattop

A more refined flattop mandolin

Classical Junior

All the features of the classical model, but simplified and modernised (and cheaper).

Flattop

A good sounding entry level mandolin

Pancake

Best value for money.  Based on the Gibson Army Navy flattop mandolins, with a few modern improvements.  Sound is on another level from the originals.

  F5

This model of mandolin is based on the Gibson Loar F5 and is aimed at the bluegrass mandolin players.  Setup and strings are different form the other models.

Not available now, but if you pay me enough money I will make one.

If you are lucky I may have a mandolin  available immediately.
