Not sure what to say about this mandoin except to say wow, it certainly demonstrates why I think King Billy Pine is the finest soundboard timber that grows on this earth. Oval sound hole mandolins don't sound any better than this one.
Woods are - King Billy Pine top, Fiddleback
Balckwood back and sides, Blackwood neck, Indian Rosewood bindings,
Macassar Ebony fingerboard (12in radius, 30mm wide at the
nut), 13 & 3/4 inch scale length, Schaller GrandTune satin
pearl tuners with Ebony knobs and solid Ebony one piece
bridge. Tailpiece has an Ebony cover engraved in the
Lyon and Healy style, pickhuard is fiddleback Eucalyptus
(don't know the species). Varnish finish and it comes
with Thomastic strings installed. Price includes a
Gator Journeyman case.
For my American customers, note that this mandolin does not
have any shell inlay. The fingerboard marker dots are
opal, and the headstock inlay is Huon Pine.. There is
no need for a USA import permit and wildlife paperwork but Lacey act paperwork
may be required.
Note that there is a 10% tariff payable before I can ship to
the USA.
